1.1 Saying your name
LiamHi there! My name's Liam. Liam Carter.

- NOTE 1: 'My name's' is a contraction of 'my name is'. It sounds more natural in speech. Both are correct.
- NOTE 2: 'And you are?' is a polite way to ask for someone's name. The voice goes up at the end — it is a question.
- NOTE 3: 'I'm from' tells the other person where you live or grew up. Use it every time you introduce yourself.
1.2 Saying your name

1.3 Introducing yourself
- NOTE 1: "My name's" is a contraction of "my name is." It sounds natural in conversation.
- NOTE 2: "I'm" is a contraction of "I am." Both are correct. "I'm" is more common in speech.
- NOTE 3: Use a capital letter at the start of every name.
1.7 Asking and spelling a name
YukiHi! I'm Yuki. And you are?
CabdiraxmaanHi, nice to meet you. My name's Cabdiraxmaan.

- NOTE 1: "Sorry, could you say that again?" is a polite way to ask someone to repeat themselves. Use it freely — it is not rude.
